The aims of the redevelopment were to:

• Upgrade the play space to allow for imaginative play as well as traditional play elements
• Provide a cohesive open space that is an enjoyable place for the community
• Reflect both the rich Aboriginal and Naval history of the area
• Increase opportunities for outdoor recreation
• Increase plant diversity to create biodiversity
