We are developing a new open space along Dover Street in Blair Athol.
The project will:
- Provide flood protection for current and future residents.
- Develop an open space to support the health and wellbeing of residents.
- Provide an updated play space to replace the existing playground located at Rushworth Reserve (which has reached the end of its useful life)
- Close of a portion of Anson Street to extend the useable open space with Rushworth Reserve.
The first round of community engagement for this project occurred on Saturday 1 September 2018 on site at Dover Street in Blair Athol. There was good participation from the local community and some valuable ideas shared - we appreciate those who gave time and input into the project. This information helped the design team in preparing plans for the Dover Street Reserve.
Community Information Day
Join us Saturday 10th April 2021 between 10am and 12pm.
Located on the site of the new open space at the corner of Anson Street and Dover Street, Blair Athol.
Why have the timelines changed?
Site analysis and stormwater modelling in 2019 indicated that due to shallow groundwater, the stormwater volume originally identified for detention in this location would not be possible in the land available.
To solve this issue and help manage the stormwater, we purchased land next to the existing open space at Dover Street from the South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA). We also decided to close a section of Anson Street to increase the open space and extend Rushworth Reserve.
